i think your describing my father.
we drove from iowa to taxes for "vacation" one year...
we spent more days on the road then actually vacationing in texas.
my mom and i now REFUSE to drive long distance with him... The year after we went to texas my mom and i FLEW to the carribean islands without him. The next year my mom andi flew from iowa to florida...he took off driving 3 days earlier and we met him there!!
so he REFUSES to ask for directions..and he REFUSES to fly.

When I was 5 years old. My father lost hold of my little hand coming out from Church. I followed the stream of people getting down the road and finally I followed them into the big bus. I was overwhelmed with fear but I could not utter a word for help. I noted that someone was happy to get hold of me in the bus but just before the bus started to move away, my father suddenly appeared and called out "that's my child!". So I was lost and found.
Many times as an adult I was lost but I have always stopped to ask people for direction. I'm really scared to be lost perhaps because of my pass experience. So in such a situation I rule out my pride.

No. I've been so very very lost, but I STOPPED at a gas station and tried to get directions...of course the guy giving me directions was an idiot who had no clue where I was going...

yeah, was lost, ended up in Compton and would have rathered kicked back with the homies for the night before ever asking for directions.

that's my fear....being lost so people get mad when they're with me because i can see the building but I'll ask 2 or 3 more people as i pass them if its the right building.
