My sister is studying accounting. She seems to study from the time she wakes up til the time she goes to bed. I keep telling her that she is studying too much. What is the appropriate amount of time for her to study. I think she is trying to absorb too much info and she is not doing nothing else as far as her life is concerned. HELP!! She needs a life outside of her books. How do I get her to chill out a lil bit and take a break from the books for a while? Also is there any tips for her so that she can better utilize her time so that she can absorb more info in a shorter period of time. Shes been out of school for a while as I have too, and we have forgotten the basic study skills...LOL

i just took a psychology class and i was told by my professor that the best way to study is a little bit each time. study 10-15 minutes here and there and take a break. DO NOT sit for hours at a time to study, because after the first few minutes u will be reading the information but not retaining it, so it is just like wasting time. find other activities to do when u take ur breaks. make sure u have nothing to distract you. eat before you to begin to study and keep a glass of juice or water to sip on. it will keep ur eyes and arms moving. and, tell your sister that too much studying can be bad for the eyes and exhausting the brain.

best of luck

Have her make a list of the things she absolutely has to study in a particular day. Do not make the list impossibly long. Check off the items studied when they are completed. Have her take notes or use index cards to study from and make sure the list includes something fun to do at the end. I do think you can study too much. Things don't make sense after a while and sometimes your brain just needs time to absorb and process new information.

If she is able to cope and understand what she is learning without being over tired she is fine. she knows her limits on being overly tired and not comprehending what she has learned and is trying to learn.....understand.
yes she does need to do other things to take a break but she will set her own limits ....
utilize her time by resting her brain and thoughts .
letting her body physically and mentally rest...
there is a thing about having a brain lock and can't think properly because of eye strain and over working the body .
