Will practicing make typing easier? or is it one of those things you either have or you don't

Practicing makes it much easier. The more you practice the easier it becomes because you start remembering where the letters on the keyboard are and they become easier for you to find

Keep practicing!

Find some good software that teaches typing, and spend 20 or 30 minutes EVERY DAY using the program. (Note that the program has to make the practice fun, or you won't do it.)

As you use a computer, try to remind yourself to use what you've learned, so that you won't revert to the hunt-and-peck approach.

How long does it take? You'll just keep getting better the longer you work at it. But you should be more-or-less touch-typing within a few weeks (if you practice with the program every day). And by "touch-typing," I mean that you can type without looking at the keys (except occasionally for odd characters, like | \ [ ] { } ` ~ etc.).

Learning to type is definitely worth the effort for the TIME it saves you, and for the oppportunities it opens up to do things that you otherwise wouldn't have done (such as write a long response to a question on Yahoo! Answers).
Good luck.

Practicing definately makes typing easier. I could barely type until seventh grade, but now, three years later, I'm a relatively fast typer. I just practiced and practiced, but it does catch on. It does take a while, depending on how much you practice. Keep at it and soon you'll be a VERY good typer.

Do relaxing exercises before you practice. Look at the script or book you are typing from and not at the keyboard. Practice daily or regularly and you'll be surprised how quickly you'll improve. Slow practice using the correct fingers is the best way at the beginning.

like playing any instrument - practice makes perfect.
You have to do the drills and practice about 15-20 min a day if you want to get good at it. People who are naturally dexterous will pick it up quicker, but really, anyone can type if you practice

Practice about a half hour a day. It will develop for you. I prefer keyboarding, as I do make mistakes, but they're easily corrected.
