myself i have used carb spray before sucessfully, also have had some success with peanut butter smear it on let it sit for a few hours and the peanut oil can soak thru the adhesive making it come loose

using kerosene or diesoline will take off the glue residue w/out damaging the the paint/ but make sure you wash it off with a car shampoo afterwards

mineral spirits, or either go to advanced auto parts and they some spray cleaner in a bottle that removes all types of unwanted things on your paint. I just can't remember the name of it...

use goo gone, you can get it at walmart for like 2 bucks but it works wonders on allot of stuff hope this helps
