in the water the spots went away but after a few days the
spots came back . i changed the water n already put medicine n salt again in the small tank. how would i know if they are well enough to be put back in the big tank?

They will come back. Salt does not kill ich. Ich doesn't like salt but it doesn't kill it.

You should not add salt when using ich medicines. Depending on the type of meds salt causes the meds not to work properly.

Treat with the meds, remember to remove your carbon from the filter. you should treat usually a week. Check the bottle some meds tell you not to do a water change and some do.

Once you have run the ich meds for the time required, check your fish carefully. If you still see spots, you need a med that specifically treat Cryptocaryon parasites. If the bottle doesn't say it specifically treats Cryptocaryon, it won't cure the ich.

When you see no signs of the ich on the fish for 3 consecutive days, they can be returned to the main tank.

Keep treating them for a while after the spots are gone. They could still be infected even though you can't see it. Since the spots are going away you know they are getting better, just make sure they are all the way better before you put them back... You should also treat the big tank to kill any ich that remains in the water.

I wouldnt put them back in, its very hard to get rid of ick even with the drops that you buy for ick out... I wouldnt suggest mixing them if you have a place to keep them alone leave them there dont try putting them back and getting all the other fish infected. Good Luck I hope this info helps..

Personally, I wouldn't take the chance, but it's your call.
