work 40 hour weeks, with only 2 weeks after a year of service off? Not one 5 day as promised work week yet!

I agree with you that they should be forced to work like the rest of us are forced to work. I'd like to know how much time Obama, Clinton, Biden and the rest have missed while campaigning. Their pay should be docked when they miss work, just like every other American's.

Paul,
I certainly see and hear your frustration and I am not condoning an easier work schedule for the Congress; however, members in both chambers (House and Senate) have a constituency that they have to maintain in their home States and jurisdiction. Combine this with spring break and I would have to say that a "forced" period of time off is not a bad idea. Consider that when they are working most measures are presented at various times of the day to accommodate the local time of their home State. For example, a Representative or Senator from Hawaii has to introduce bills and discuss issues relative to local time in Hawaii isn't the same thing as a Representative or Senator from New York whose constituency is on EDT.

The current Spring recess for the Congress is running from 30 March to 9 April (9 April being the travel day alloted back to DC). Not quite two weeks; however, coincidental for Spring Break around most of the rest of the country.

Your vote counts - please keep that in mind on any election day - get involved and stay tuned. See below link.

I say, send them home for good. Just look at how they screw us when they put in a 20 hour week and then think....of the damage they would do if they actually worked a 40 hour week!

Well, I agree with Tom as of late. Yet I do agree with the 40 hour week. They are relaxing on the back of America's military and should be ashamed.
Pelosi took it one step further and is vacationing in Syria using our tax dollars. She will be treated like royalty by our enemies. Maybe we will get lucky and she will miss her plane ride home.

our congressional leaders have the work habits of five year old children.

they should be required to work until the work is complete.

any who know any busy executives and they work nothing like this - they work 16 hour days, seven days a week - 365 days a year.

since when does leadership get a vacation.

we have the completely wrong kind of person 'leading' us right now.

it's just one of many totally outrageous things about our govt.

i can't wait for their summer vacation - several weeks long and it's happened every summer for as long as memory serves.

pathetic - is it any wonder that nothing ever gets done and what is done looks suspiciously like our unnecessary war in iraq...

I think with THIS Congress, we should pay them to NOT work.

But this is easy for me to say, since I run my own business and can work 365 days a year if I let my clients' run my business.

Come on, grousers! Just run for office!!

I wish my schedule was as nice as theirs with the compensation they get.

Look at all the senators that are campaigning for President. They get to campaign and still get all the compensation from their "Day Job" as senators. Not a bad life!

I would like to see them put in one full day of work.....

Considering the nitwits in congress today, we should pay them to stay home and destroy anything further

I'm with you. They should work just like we do. And I sure don't think they should be allowed to vote themselves payraises or anything else to do with their income or retirement. We can't do that. And they work for us! Only, they don't think they do. They pay lipservice to working for us at election time, but they don't really believe that.

I was told the Palosi Congress was supposed to be different and all our problems would be fixed... so much for rhetoric...
