I went to the store this morning to get some coffee, and it was 10 dollars for FOLGERS for crying out loud! When did this happen? Did someone place Columbia on the axis of evil watch list?

Every time I go into a cafe or deli to grab a cup of coffee, the price is always higher than the last time I was there. I ask why and all they do is shrug and say that coffee is more expensive now (duh.). I usually get Martinson coffee because I can find cans for $4.95 near my house. Today I got a can of Folgers 'French Vanilla' for about $5.50 and I was pretty happy but I had to go to the cheap-o supermarket for it. 'Cafe Bustelo' is the cheapest brand I can find and it's usually in the $3 range but it's a Cuban espresso grind.

Most of the other brands seem to be small stupid bags for $7-10 these days. I just remind myself that it's much cheaper than buying by the cup if I went to a cafe.

Supply and Demand. With Starbucks and such driking coffee has become a fad and also a status symbol. So for some people driking Folgers is very important than driking that weird Kmart brand. So Folgers can get away with having a high price since its a PREMIUM coffee!

All imports are getting more expensive because the dollar is losing value quickly. The US is heading for big economic trouble.

coffee is one of the cheapest products out there... but because it is so popular, they can jack up the price. kind of like oil. In fact... i'm looking into opening up my own chain of coffee stands. Only have good coffee...unlike starbucks. you can make a lot of money..$$$$$

I know. It's ridiculous. I guess it is just keeping up with the rising price for everything else.
