Jealous can hit home in many areas but for the time being I am asking just about how jealous you are of the neighbours abode (not anyone in it).

I have to admit I am, very. I know I shouldn't be (after all it doesn't take anything from me, it's not like I have to pay their bills) but we are so cash-strapped and she has the best of everything and likes to rub my nose in it. They redid the entire flat a few years back with top-quality everything (marble floors, all new furniture, etc.). OK, so her husband and sons all have good salaries, they can pay for it, they deserve it...but I get so green with jealousy sometimes because my husband has worked hard all his life and we just can't get ahead or afford the things they have. Sigh!
Looks like I'll have to grow up.

Hi,
Oh I think that the trait of jealosy is not a useful commodity.
If I considered that my nice car is not as good as my friends' Ferrari, whatever model it is, was a poor show in the street, would I worry ?
No, I just borrow the red thing for occasions !
As for housing, I don't like my neighbours dark red front portal, and they don't like my silly shed full of boat parts.
But jealousy ? No - it is a silly thing to say on my allotment that matey's leeks are bigger than mine.
My spuds are better !
Competition is fine in my book, but surely envy is a destructive thought.
Stop worrying!

Not at all. Different homes have different strengths. This house is approximately the same as others in the street.
Some have one more bedroom, one less than the one I have, but that makes no diff. I have a dining room that others do not.
This house and garden fits me; I have no reason to be jealous.

Not jealous at all. My little dwelling (30 sq meters) is lovely and cosy. I live well below my means and I'm fully aware if I wanted I could buy something better and bigger but I'm very happy with my home right now, to me it's perfect.

Yes & No - On one side they have 2 dogs who are allowed to roam all over the house, and sleep on the beds aswell - yuck!

On the other side, they have grown up children and a house that is always lovely and clean and tidy - so I am envious of them.

I never get jealous of what friends and neighbours have got (or haven't got in this age of minimalism). They have their tastes and I have mine, and I'm not materialistic at all.

i keep myself to myself,i don't even know what any of my neighbours homes look like inside, i just think getting involved with your neighbours is a risky business cos you gotta live with them and if you fall out things can become very uncomfortable

I wish I had one myself but I don't get mad about it; I grew up believing that money doesn't bring happiness. I would be jealous of someone who has many true friends and a devoted partner rather than someone who's rich.
