Well, for me, the accent makes whoever is speaking sound smart. I mean, you could be talking about shite, and it just sounds good. And I also really like a proper English breakfast, and fish and chips with vinegar, and the history that is so well preserved. America is pretty young so we don't have that here. Thousands and thousands of years a few steps away, the New Forest. It's just beautiful. I can't wait to visit again. Cheers!

What do I like about the English ? Just about everything. I have read ( studied ) everything In two large libraries that had to do with England. I find the study of it's development from the very earliest stone age people, to the present to be of very special interest to me.
Why not ? We (Americans ) start our education reading stories about Little Boy Blue, Little Miss Muffet, Mary and her lamb, etc. All those stories are directly from England, and written in the English language.
I was terribly disappointed when they changed all of the illustrations in the grade school readers from Medieval dress to modern. Jack and Jill. the old lady who lived in a shoe, etc wore English medieval clothing for many hundreds of years, why change now ?
Here, in America are many signs of the French, Spanish and German, but the English influence shows through it all.
Strange, I have no English ancestry in me.

Are you asking for cliche's or do you expect people here to actually have been to England?
Personally I like the educated English accent. I have a problem with the lack of openness which many English have. Americans are easier to get to know.

I know this is a generalization, but it's been my experience that Americans don't like anything or anyone that isn't American, and they particularly seem to enjoy mocking the English, the French, and Canadians. I suppose I could come up with theories as to why, but frankly, I just don't care that much. A guy with the nickname "Daddy" pretty much sums it up for me in the second answer you got. That, in my experience is a typical American attitude. Btw I'm Canadian.
