There are too many PC lefty loonies on this site to get a proper reaction I'm afraid. But it is obvious if people were 'honest' then 90% of the country would be against it.

Nothing against Mosques, there are almost one million Muslims in Britain, some of them have to go to very bad places which they call Mosques, the think is that the government Had already spent billions in the war, the invasion and the occupation during the last 4 years, now is going to spend more than 9 billions for the Olympics, the NHS is in big problems because of a debt of 50 million pounds, there is not houses for the poor and thy speak about more and more taxes...they should use spend much more money in the people specially after a study that says that the British children are the worse housed and miserable of Europe, but they don´t care...is about money and business...repugnant...

Is not surprise that Muslim are money being and living since 40 years ago on the Christian taxes, but the government to build a Mosque is humiliating FOR THEM cause after the war and with things to come is the ultimate knee on the floor for Muslims that show all the time that their beliefs have a price, in the next war, Muslims have to be there, a roof payed for a Christian government, I ask really very much, the Christian church doesn´t accept never ever be bought for this goverment in such a silly obvious way.

as i understand it, the organisation behind the plans are a very conservative group based in Saudi Arabia. they don't seem to be able to show on paper exactly where the money is coming from, many local Muslims in west ham are not happy about the plans and have raised a petition against it, last reported to have gathered 3,000 signatures. they have concerns that it will not be representative of all strands of the faith. from the BBC website:
"The finance behind this mosque comes from highly conservative religious backers in Saudi Arabia.
There are deep misgivings about the project within the Muslim community and the wider non-Muslim London community."
i don't have a problem with mosques being built, i think that they can be beautiful buildings, but this one worries me for the above reasons.

Absolutely bad !!!, I don´t care about them building 100 mosques, they will need it as they are coming and coming...and coming from their countries full of misery and executions, the problem is that this is a Secular government for some things and then come with this, the Muslims are money begging in the NHS in the JObcenter, they are draining away badly our housing capacity...and WHY A GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN BUILDING A RELIGIOUS PLACE?...is funny cause Muslims are very proud and the truth is that our government does nothing for free, this only means to me, that Iran is really in target...is a cheap buying at the end...

are they gonna build a mosque? i don't know if that will have a negative or a positive effect on people. It might be a reminder of the ongoing war in iraq. It might be a symbol of acceptance for muslims. It might even be seen as something that was done purely to make the government look democratic and accepting of other cultures, thus it ends up being mocked. I am not from the UK, btw. I think that while building it they should be careful not to neglect other places of historical importance, and take them into consideration (for example not to build it in front of a museum or an important monument).

Well we have one at top of our street in Leeds and they park they're cars all over the place its on the corner of a busy cross road and nothing is said about all the cars parked all over the place blocking the way through on some occasions, now we have quite a few churches around here also but these church going people ain't allowed to park they're cars in this way it feels like it one rule for one and a different rule for another. not fair at all to your question ever where else has to put up with them why shouldn't London?

There is nothing wrong in erecting any kind of building in London so long as it is well designed and passes the planning requirements.
It is not the building that causes concern it is what is being taught/preached, studied, planned etc. by those that use the building that gives us cause for concern.

What ???
there are already quite a few scattered about in London anyway !!!
Does seem as if planning regulations do get waivered though, as they are not architecturally in keeping with their surroundings !
But, that`s progress, i`m afraid !
