If you have ablown head gasket, white smoke should be coming out the exhaust pipe, but if the valve covers are leaking oil, then smoke will be present due to oil getting on the exhaust manifold and burning when running the car..Either way, I don't suggest any bottle cure for a blown head gasket, they only cause problems in the cooling system later on, blocking the heater core and causing cfold spots in the radiator...Question for you..give me the reason why you think you have a blown head gasket? Is your water and oil mixing? Do you have to add coolant to car? Is car running rough? and if you don't mind please email me back..

I tried some of the "barsleaks" brand head gasket repair. It acually worked really good but only for a couple of weeks. I bought it at advanced auto for 8 or 9 bucks...If you try it make sure to follow instructions to the t.

Its up to you to decide but Even though I sell the stuff I would not use it. If its the water glass, copper in a can, or copper seal lookout I have had many people mess up other things like radiator water pump and heater core when they used these products incorrectly. And to tell you the truth your just prolonging the problem. If its the type you put in your oil you WILL clog some of the small oil passages in you engine the stuff is made to plug holes after all if it were me I would have to say bite the bullet and fix it if you plan on keeping the car. If your going to sell it and you can live with doing that to someone go ahead.

If it "leaks smoke everywhere" you are way past the possibility that stop leak is going to help. If and when it does help, it is temporary at best.
Start pulling head bolts, make sure your heads are okay, and replace the gasket.

That stuff works as a temporaty fix for small problems. say to get you home while on a trip. Head gasket needs to be replaced. If it is as bad as you say it is it may be something bigger, like piston rings.

No, the best fix for ANY leaking gasket is to replace it. If you are going to tackle the job yourself, buy a manual & a high quality torque wrench.

If you are going to junk it and only need a few more weeks, it couldn't hurt to try. Go with Bars-leak, I don't know what it costs... $5 maybe.
If you want to keep the car, don't put that junk in there, get it fixed!

I'm very skeptical, these sort of instant repairs, remarkablly, seem to work best -when they work at all, on old high milage cars, I would never try it on a decent newer car.
Even them , they sometimes work for awhile and then fail
one never really knows

It's not possible to tell from your description what the problem is.Do you mean the valve cover gasket is leaking oil?
