Because the style of music is what is most popular in most commercial areas of the world. Plus there is a much larger percentage of the population that can understand English in other countries than there is native English speakers who understand other languages.

even if the national language is not English, there are tons of people who speak English. I have met a girl from Sweden who said that English was a required class just like math or science.

many times an inexperienced band tours in foreign countries to hone their live shows, to get on-stage experience...& it`s true, english is ALMOST an international language, so people overseas can understand them...plus, the european community in particular are very receptive to new styles of music, so it`s easier for a young band to gain a fan-base that will support them...unlike in america, where folks seem to ignore different & innovative new artists because they don`t fit some pre-defined mold of what is currently popular...

You should'nt just 'hear' music. You should 'feel' it. There is no language barrior for feeling. The Japanese are rock & roll's biggest fans... Songs are music and emotion, not just words of a certain language, but music in itself is a language; a language you 'just feel' not a language that can be taught. :-)

Asking that question is like asking: "Why does Rammstein play in countries that don't speak german?"
