Because Dolores (lead singer) sang with an Irish accent and you are mimicing her - At least that explains why i sing in an Irish accent to their songs.

You have to mimic their enunciation to get the sound right. Just like you hold your mouth much differently when imitating Cher or Barbra Streisand. It's just part of getting their sound right.
