Okay so my teacher assigned this project. In a group we have to find a song made in the 50's or 60's that relates to the Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Then we have to make up a dance to it and learn the words so we can perform it later.
Any good song ideas????

p.s my group is made of three girls and one guy.

i don't think we can use songs from the movie. besides the songs autually in the movie don't seem to relate to the events taking place.

Consider when Ponyboy is talking about music - the Socs are into the Beatles.. the greasers are into... ELVIS.

Jailhouse Rock, Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog, All Shook Up.. go to the library and borrow an Elvis greatest hits CD and pick a song that suits. I'd go with Blue Suede Shoes, it has attitude, just like Dally.

Another possibility: since there's three girls and a guy, try Leader of the Pack, it's sung by a girl group and is about a guy who dies in a motorcycle wreck, you could probably adjust the words so it fits Dally getting shot down. Picture the guy in your group dressed as a greaser and you three girls as Socs. :) And I bet you'd get extra credit for getting creative and adjusting the lyrics.

As for a song actually made during that time I remember 'Gloria' being played in the movie but don't know the performer. Hmmmmmmmm... let's see :-)
It's by Van Morrison. However, just because a song is not in the movie doesn't mean yu can't do it. Lots of songs from that era would work. Do that 'Lollipop' song they did in 'Stand By Me'.... (Ba dom-dom-dom) :-)
