Despite what Bono and other Hollywooders would like us to believe world hunger and illness will not be solved by throwing money at it. Whether we continue to give money to Haiti or forgive Third-World debt (which has been done countless times), poverty has just gotten worse. When do we just tell these countries, "You're on your own."

Take a lesson from the late Sam Kinison, "You're in the desert - move to where the food is!!!"

I agree with you whole heartily...... These hollywood types have guilty feeling from all the monies they have aquired off the backs of the poor....now that they are getting up in age they want to repent, so they act like they are helping and in fact all they are doing is creating more people who depend on handouts.

How about we start taking care of THIS country before spending a dime anywhere else....there are wayy to many starving children in the United States-not to mention people who can't afford healthcare-to be worrying about everyone else.

The road to increased terrorism, increased illegal immigration, world unrest, genocide, infanticide and a host of other of the world's ills is paved by apathy and indifference! Great start, so now let's make recommendations and not just spit at the poor. What do you propose that's realistic?

Indeed. The greatest poverty is ignorance: spiritual poverty; And as Gandhi aptly said, such "poverty is the greatest form of violence". My, haven't we seen a lot of violence and violent weather late-ly. Perhaps there is a connection of violence to violent weather, USA having more of both than others.

POINT: Law worketh wrath is destructive, not constructive. Grace worketh peace is constructive, not destructive.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

bono lives where he pays the least amount of taxes. this shows me he is dishonest about helping others. if he really wants to help people, he should lie and work with them or also not avoid his fair share of taxes.

I agree with you. Instead of spoon-feeding them all the time, we should teach them how find their own food and eat it themselves.
