I have 8 yrs military service and 2nd year on the VA. pls help

I'll assume that you are in the FERS system. If that's the case, then you will get both a Social Security benefit and a Federal employee benefit check when you retire. Your eligibility and the amount you get is determined by time of service. Your military service does also factor in. Check the OPM website for more details...

I don't think you will with only 10 years of service. That only works if you're in Congress.
