If you're talking about a loud whirring noise as it boots then it's probably your CD/DVD drive. Just don't leave a disk in there when you shut down then it wont make the noise when it boots.

If your talking about a fairly random clicking noise from under the keyboard then it is your hard drive getting ready to die. Back up everything important NOW!!! Then replace the hard drive, it's located under the CD drive in most satellites.

It seems Hard drive is crying and asking for mercy. Usually when hard drive is going to die it sound as you are saying.

Advise: make a backup of all important data then send to maker for checkup. If hard drive is corrupted then change or change yourself.

I hope this will help.

May be dusty fan. not necessarily an HDD failure. try cleaning the fan(s) inside the laptop. change the HDD, take it to a repairman like me who can change stuffs inside it to check their wellness.
