My parents never taught me that when a person dies, there is a lot of responsibility and expense that goes along with that event...
My mom is sick in a nursing home now and has Alzheimer's and she can't remember things...
So I am doing the pre-arrangements for her funeral, and I thought everything was already paid for because that's what she told me when I was growing up...
I now found out I need a casket, a liner, someone to dig the hole, a hearse, flowers, a preacher, the funeral services, and all kinds of paperwork to file...
This is NOT counting the fact that we already have the cemetary plot paid for or the headstone paid for, since my dad died many years ago...
Costs have certainly gone up in that aspect...
It's gonna cost me around $6,000.00 dollars to pay for everything my mom needs and I have been out of work on disability for 5 years...
I have to start making the payments before my mom dies so I will get paid back by our insurance after she dies...
The insurance wont pay out the policy till they know she is dead and all the paperwork takes about 2 weeks, in the meanwhile my mom needs to be buried...
The funeral home wont bury her with no payments made on anything...
So there you go, in case you didn't know either...

They forgot to tell me that they weren't getting along anymore. More specifically, my mom forgot to tell me that she was never really comfortable being a mom. She told my dad that after they got divorced. Can you guess which one of them was the one who left?

How to manage money. I have corrected their omission by teaching my kids financial responsibility. My daughter has a hard time understanding that just because you have checks, it doesn't mean you have money.
Great question. Have a star on me.

They didn't teach me a massive amount of things love, too many to mention. My grandparents were actually better parents- but unfortunately they didn't last too long.
