if their was no ego, what problems of humanity would exist?

knowledge is necessary.one needs to support oneself in order to exist.the will to exist ,is fact.agreed, the mind is capable of...great deeds in art, philosophy, science, and so on. i ask this, why hasen't this mind solved the problem of world hunger?why hasen't this mind solved the problem of continuous war.over 5 thousand wars in the known history of mankind.why are their so many reglions so many political beliefs, which is non other but a matter of opinion.
if there was no ego??the thought that first comes to mind is that we all would be mindless goons capable of nothing. not so sure .desire is a beautiful thought and emotion.there is great passion in that simple word.that passion has been disortrd by pride, agression and fear.perhaps the question was to harsh.
to look without judgement or evaluation ,which is only a product of past,to see it just for the moment,is truly sir or madem, one of the most beautiful wonders that we will continue to blind ourselves to.and that is fact.

Ego drives people to do great things, be it for prestige, money, or simply to be productive. The man who cares not for his own accomplishments or thoughts, or takes them as something that might be too prideful to consider them over other people, is not somebody who is going to work to develop himself. The world would be nothing but a series of people who are adopting themselves to the opinions of other people, who themselves are too busy listening to somebody else. A world of listeners, without a single person talking or thinking for himself.

Imagine if no businesses ever expanded again, or maybe even shut their doors because they had no more personal motivation to keep going. Innovation collapses, jobs become even more scarce, and even the government, now starving for those corporate taxes, can't support anybody. And, if ego was taken from all of humanity at once, we'd all be catapulted back by centuries, and might would be the only right to feed your families.

Ego is a major problem that is actually one of my pet peeves. More often than not a persons ego is completely unfounded. I don't see it solving all of the worlds problems though, there will still be natural disasters and conditions which make life hard. At the same time though if ego wasn't a factor. there would probably be more people willing to help those affected. Good question, you really got me thinking now!

I just had this thought...ego often inspires what I like to call "enlightened self interest." My definition of ESI is something good a person does for another/another group not primarily because it is a good thing to do, but because it makes the doer feel better about him/herself.

So, for example, if I walked a blind elderly man across a busy street, it would be for the good feeling I got, not to help the blind man. In essence, I would be using the blind man to help me feel better about myself...to experience myself as a "good person."

Without ego feeding our motives, none of these acts of ESI would be undertaken. The world would be in a very sorry state. I think ESI is a good thing for all of us to have. Because of it, we do kind acts and contribute to society. Even if we do it to make ourselves feel better, it doesn't discount the good that is accomplished.

Ego is what drives man to achieve great deeds! It's coupled to pride, fearlessness, and sad to say, aggression! Without it, we would still be peering out from under a rock scared witless of anything that moved! Have a good day!

You wouldn't have those people who think since I am male I should be all competitive and think that my way is always right and that I have to be in charge of everything and have a really aggressive attitude. I guess we do need those people in the world though.

life would be a tad boring... nobody would have anything to prove... some may argue that therefore, we'd be in a state of peace.... in reality, we just wouldn't know any better. life would be flat out boring.
