What is the point in hurting people or making people angry to begin with and then making them even angrier? What does a person get out of that?
Lots of people do that in various ways and creating anger for no appropriate reason no matter how or why it is done is never peaceful. Then there are cultural differences in what one person means by a behavior compared to another and even sometimes what they say and mean from time to time. It is based on perception, and no one always has the right solution for all things and at all times, it is impossible.
It is like telling a joke some people will respond with a big out loud belly laugh slapping their hands together or perfoming other behaviors and some people won't get it at all they will get befuddled or it will just go right past them, each has their own right to this personal expression.
I think this person that said that they do security knows what they are talking about. Words and emotions and the way or reason that we use and express them can be our greatest gift, our greatest non violent weapon, and it can also be our greatest skill. All types of behaviors and words can soothe or provoke, create or cause cessation, it is up to the person that is using them and the interpreter to understand how and why what is being done is being done, is it friendly fire or enemy fire?
I have always been more afraid of a silent person that I know is angry at me then one that was open with me in what they were thinking, feeling, and expressing, because I could deal with what I could know better then having to guess at what was up.
The silent person that just stands there and smiles if they ever get terribly provoked may end up doing some terrible things that are far worse in some cases and unexpected at the same time. With them you don't actually know when to stop, what to stop, or when to walk away from them, that does not mean that they are not angry or won't ever get out of control it is just more subversive until it is not, and that is what is dangerous about it in my way of thinking.

I work in security services, so staying cool is a definate must. Im a people person also, so its not so tough. Im not out to make people madder, but to calm their little butts down. Words are your greatest weapon, or your worst enemy.

I do the same thing, I'm trying to teach my 14 yr old daughter how to do this. I told her you can think anything you want in your head but just smile, it will drive the other person insane.
