x^2-x-20/x+4
= (x-5)(x+4)/(x+4)
= x-5

1) Factor the numerator:

X^2 - X - 20 = (x+4)(x-5)

So you have:
(x+4)(x-5)/x+4

2)Cancel like terms

3)Remainder is the answer:

x-5
