I'm very worried, as i switched on my computer today, i noticed that instead of the usual sound the CPU makes when programs are loading, I'm hearing a strange sort of rumbling sound. what could be the cause of that?

probably your power supply , or the cooling fan could have dust or something on it which has put it out of balance, dont worry to much about it , can be a number of things , none of which you can avoid or fix , until it fails anyway. could last for years with these problems , or not.. any further worries if the performace or cosmetic problems let a IT tech know

the cpu has no moving parts - its not your cpu making noise.

most likely a fan which has collected dust or the hard disk is playing up.

Could be the fan in your power supply. Sometime they make a noise.
Have a nice day :-)

Your hard drive may be close to death.

Back up all your personal data NOW!!!

Then, take your PC to the nearest trusted repair shop.
