Deaths at the microscopic level could be from using up of food supply - resulting in death from starvation, drying out, waste products building up to poisonous levels, also if you get old and slow, something will eat you. Consider also, that in adverse conditions many bacteria produce spores containing their genetic material, to maintain the species when conditions are suitable.

becoz the single celled organisms reproduce by asexual reproduction and on maturity divide themselves into daughter cells

dont know much about the first one. but i feel that it could be because of some processes in their lifecycle which prevent cessation of metabolic activities.
