Why so often?
I usually format the drive when I get a new drive every 2 to 3 years. Rarely if every do I reformat it unless I've screwed it up too bad with all the experiments I do.

It's not bad for the health of the drive. Just means you have to set up everything all over again each time.

I am s0000000oooooo curious why you do this. Are you running spyware? Do you install antivirus (both are free programs).

You should only reformat your computer whenever you have serious problems with it. Reformatting will not hurt your computer but it erases your information. Something that would be a good alternative to reformatting would be using a good antivirus and defragmenting maybe once a month or so. With proper care your computer should continue to run at about the same speed as it does after a reformat. If you are reformatting because your computer tends to get slower the more and more you use it the easiest way to fix this problem is to go to start -> run and type in "msconfig" without quotes then go to the startup tab and disable some programs from starting when your computer boots, this along with unistalling unnecessary programs ,will help it run faster as opposed to removing all of your data.

About every 6 - 9 months if you install and delete a lot of programs. A reformet of the disc and s freash rebuild of the OS is a good thing for system speed and getting rid of annoying glitches.

Dear Friend,
You should not be doing this as it damages the Hard disk. But if your hard disk is well within the warranty period go along... But computers tend to work faster after you wipe it fully... I mean erasing everything... partitioning... installing... etc,. I did this all 6 times a day for two months to get practiced for my RHCE Exam. But do it with a purpose...
Thank You...

Well, deleting everything shouldn't be bad for it, as long as you have the back up disk. I don't know why you're wiping the HD, though. There doesn't seem to be a need to do it that often.
