Stick with windows xp of windows 2000 as Vista requires a significant graphics card and laptop are not really know for these.

So far, we've put XP on all the ibm's we've had here. My partner Pam was tech support for Intel wireless, and they all had ibm's.
Check around and see if there is a license available to use.
Vista doesn't work well on most of the older ibm's due to the video card.

if you opt for vista youll be needing an graphics card upgrade , but its worth it ,you could get it for around Rs8000 for home basic and Rs9500 for home premium edition
