Many images in early artwork have been said to contain depictions of UFOs. However, upon closer examination, one can see that this is not the case in all of these circumstances.

In the Paolo Uccello painting called "La Tebaide" there are no UFOs. The red object near the praying saint is the cardinal hat of Saint Jerome.

The Mtskheta Crucifixion contains no UFOs. The two objects near the cross are an anthropomorphic representation of the Sun and the Moon shown in much the same way as in many other Byzantine Crucifixions.

In the Visoki Decani Crucifixion fresco there are no UFOs. The two objects near the cross are anthropomorphic symbols of the Sun and the Moon, represented in much the same way as they are in many other Byzantine Crucifixions.

In the painting “the Annunciation” by Carlo Crivelli there are no UFOs: The ray reaching the Madonna comes from two circles of little angels inside a main circle of clouds, as in many other representations of God appearing into medieval and renaissance paintings.

The sphere between the figures of the Holy Trinity in the "Esaltation of the Eucaristy" by Bonaventura Salimbeni, is not an UFO. That object, painted in many Trinity representations, is a symbol of the "Creation Globe", and in this particular painting contains the illustration of the Sun and the Moon.

In the image called "Kiev fresco" there are no UFOs or rockets. It is simply a representation of the "Transfiguration" of Jesus in bizantine style, similar to every other Orthodox Tranfiguration icons.

In the "Baptism of Christ" by Aert De Gelder there is no UFO. The light disc in the sky is similar to other discs seen in many other "Baptism of Christ" paitings. At Jesus' baptism, the Dove (often inside the light circle) represented the presence of the Holy Spirit, and so is most frequently used to symbolize the third person of the Trinity. In the Fitzwilliam Museum catalogue the painting is described in this way: "In the foreground of a hilly landscape, Christ is baptised by St. John, amid a circle of onlookers. The two figures are brilliantly lit by rays from the Dove high above, against general darkness..."

In the "Madonna with child" by Carlo Crivelli there are no UFOs or «modern jet missiles». In the tiny landscape (3 cm width), at right of the Madonna, there are only some sketches of towers and pinnacles like in all the other landscape scenes painted by Carlo Crivelli.

There are more pages to this explaining why what may appear as UFOs in this ancient art is nothing "Unidentified."
