I wuold definetly take Patrick Patterson. O.J. Mayo is a great player but he is a ballhog and he has proven that he's not a team leader. Mayo has a bad attitude and he has gotten in a lot of trouble in high school. Although Patterson isn't polished offensively, he is a great shot blocker and rebounder. His attitude is superb and he's always willing to improve on and off the court. Mayo has more potential and talent than Patterson but he doesn't have the heart of a champion.

Back when the Cowboys drafted in 1998 I was so ticked they passed on Randy Moss. I'm usually the one to advocate teams take chances on talented players.
But now I just don't know. O.J. Mayo has a HIGH Maurice Clarrett factor you're almost waiting for him to get kicked off USC's team. Patterson is one of the top 25 players in the country and I couldn't really see taking him over Mayo as a mistake granted Mayo is a known knucklehead.

I don't know who Patrick Patterson is, but I would take him over Mayo any day of the week. Mayo is just an over-hyped, selfish, showoff. He's sort of like Stephon Marbury. How good has he turned out? Sure he's a talented individual player but how has the teams he's played for done? He's never played for a 50 win team! I can see Mayo becoming the next Sebastian Telfair. You can thank Slam Magazine for those two.

OJ Mayo for sure. He is unbelievable, i know he struggled in the MCD's game but in reality thats not even close to the biggest game he's ever played. He will come into USC next year and help lead them to a final 4 and will put up Kevin Durant type numbers. Offensively he is unreal, he can shoot, drive, and pass with the best of them. He was originally playing in KY (where im from) and i saw him first in the state tourney when he was an 8th grader averaging 20 ppg (this is in one of the only states where we dont have a "class" system so everyone plays everyon). He left KY b/c of the age limitations that we have here that Ohio and West Virginia (and others) do not have. He went to North College Hill where the team had won just 3-4 games total the year before and helped lead them to back to back state championships. He was then supposed to go to the holy land of HS bball (Oak Hill Academy) but he got into a little trouble so he transferred to Huntington, WV where i know he had them ranked in the top 10 in the nation. He will avg. 25 ppg EASILY next season and he will also show that his passing ability is unreal.

Mayo is an annoying, immature punk. NBA general managers see Ron Artest, and probably want no part of Mayo. Its too bad most of these 18-19 year olds don't have the maturity of Lebron James. When I see Mayo, I see Maurice Clarett. Where are this kids parents, mentors? Pathetic.

patterson, Bcause mayo isn't mature enough yet 2 make it anywhere (mainly sports, college, and life itself). until he as enough heart and desire to let the team win a game instead of just himself puttin up numbers, his skills will never be as good as they could be

I'd take Mayo even though he is a ball hog. He is a great shooting guard that can rebound and score.
