You need to login to your Wireless router, on the "wireless" submenu look for "connected devices" or similar equivalent (description defers from brand to brand of routers). If you see any MAC address which does not belong to anybody in your house that means your neighbor has piggybacked on your connection. Activate the MAC Filtering to allow only PCs within your house to be allowed to connect to your router.

Yes easy, just make sure all your computers are off, and if the lights on your router are still flashing to indicate internet traffic then your neighbours are using it.

To stop them, then goto your router control software and put in some security. Read the mannual for your router.

Usually you can enter the control software by putting the following into your web browser 192.168.1.1 you might need to enter a password again read your router mannual.

If you get there then you should change the default SSID to something you will remember and then disable SSID braodcast. You will then need to change all your other computers on your network to recognise this new SSID.

By disabling the broadcast your neigbour will not see your network at all.

Why not also when you are in your router set up page also enable encryption, you enter a key (again this key must be on all your computers in your network) and all signals sent by your router will be encrypted, and only those computers with your key will understand the signal.

Mike Man ... A simple way is to simply stop using all of your Internet devices momentarily. If the traffic LED on your router is still flashing, yes, someone else is using your line.

Get the manual for your wireless router. There are a couple of things you need to do in order to keep others off your line who don't belong there.

See my two links below for more info about the hazards of not securing your wireless router. Good luck and keep your snoopy neighbors out.

Haha Sprinkle your funny!!!! :) I don't know about the answer but a solution would be to put a password on your wireless internet. Then they won't be able to use it! Very simple!

To stop the worrying simply add a WEP or WPA password key to stop them getting on or just hide the SSID and they won't be able to see it when they search for wireless devices.

On my linksys, you go to the router admin page then go to

Security > Local network > DHCP Clients Table

This shows me all the names of the computers connected to my router.

To check I had BT teach me to go into the hub manager and check my network .It shows you exactly what is connected to your router ( you must have administrator rights to do this ) and if you find any unauthorised users you can permanently delete them from your network

Yes unplug the router when you think they are using it, and listen out for the swearing next door.
