because i noticed when i edit files in the 'iTunes' folder under 'My Music' it edits whats on my ipod when i re-sync up. so if i deleted a few files, would it delete it form my ipod too when i re-sync?

If you delete the music from your itunes library, then, yes, the next time you update your ipod the music will be gone from old poddie - oops!

Make sure in iTunes you have it in manual sync (not automatic, which is the default). Then if you have an ipod (NOT Shuffle), you can delete music from the library and it will stay in the ipod. Shuffles seem to behave differently though...

Yes the music will be erased. The file must but be in iTunes for it to remain on the iPod.
