fins & the veiny red markings. It became sick after moving it and its friend I've had for over a year now. They were doing super the whole time UNTIL I set up a new 29 gallon aquarium & moved them....did great for 3 days, went for the weekend, came home & goldie & rock were hovering at the bottom together. It was obvious that goldie was the sicker one, a common golfish about 4-5 inches. It seemed her friend Rock the shubunkin (same size) was sheltering her. I believe that they got sick from an additon to the new tank... live plant, new fantail or rocks & decor. After salting & dosing w/antibiotics the shubunkin is doing much better& has gotten rid of popeye-it's eating, swimming & mostly normal, goldie showing no signs of improvement, she is swimming around the tank aimlessly, but not hovering much on the bottom. Not eatin at all, popeye not getting better. I have changed the water, and done what I can. I don't want to give up on goldie yet, but she won't get better & WONT DIE..

Don't give up on her yet. If she has made it for a week there is still hope. The red in the fins and the pop eye are both signs of and internal infection. I don;t know what antibiotic you were using, but obviously it helps keep your fish alive and saved the other one. Keep dosing the tank for at least another week. Sometimes internal infections take more than a week to clear up so don't stop, you are on the right track. I would suggest you also feed them a medicated food for infections. They are commonly available and contain an antibiotic as well. Don't stop treating with the one you are using in the water, do both. Maybe the extra from the food will clear it on up for her.

Best of luck

Your Goldie has septicemia. Mardel makes a medicine for that called Maracyn Two. Hurry down to Petsmart, or Petco and get yourself some. After a week of this, I fear you don't have a much time. Follow the directions religiously, and with a little luck, she'll pull through. Hope this helps.

If you can you should isolate the sick fish. Sometimes a small pinch of Epsom Salts will help perk up an ailing fish but after being sick for a week I fear the end may be nigh for your fish. You could call your local Vet and ask advice but I suspect a new fish might well be on the cards if your fish has a fungal infection.

have you used aquarium water conditioner? it's called stress coat. it replaces the protective slime coating that they need in times of stress. It also takes the chlorine out of the water. and detoxifies heavy metals. also check the temperature of the water. goldfish hibernate in the winter when they are out doors. which would be what you described very little movement and no need to eat. But it sounds like the fish is just stressed from the move. as long as it doesnt have white spots from ick.

Goldfish produce a lot of waste (poop)... You have to clean the gravel everyweek and do a 30% water change too.
