Why do NBA superstars get special treatment? Is it because the league wants to protect their stars? Do you think the NBA coporate big wigs tell the refs to give certain players calls? Because it seemed like last years NBA finals, D. Wade got every call, when he drove the lane. He has only been in the league a couple of years and he already gets every call?

I think this is because the refs no that they are going to go to the lane and these "superstars" are so good that if they don't make a shot there must be some reason. Wade was getting a lot of calls but the best players can get up to 1/3 of their points from getting fouled. They are getting fouled because these great athletes are so good that regular players can't check them.

i do agree with your observation, but i will say it's rather unintentional rather than deliberate...
part of the psyche of the game... for example, bryant is being guarded by raja (who?) and if kobe drives and he charges on bell, normally it's an offensive foul...
but things get 50-50 when a star player is involved in the play... sometimes there's a call, but more often, there's non-call...
you get what i mean...

if you buy their jerseys, and cards, and tickets i'm sure a fair penny goes to their mansion, so it helps everybody in the sports gestapo
