I just got married in Michigan in September, and I was required to bring a social security card and another form of valid identification (like a driver's license, birth certificate, state ID) but this requirement may vary in the county you are getting married in. You have to register for your marriage license in the county you're getting married in. The best way to find out is to visit the website of the county or call the county's clerks office directly.
