It started off light and then has been very heavy for the last 3 weeks. I had a pap 2 months ago and all came back ok. What's wrong with me? I've been trying to get pregant for 3 years but my periods are never on time and it's hard to plan when I'm always off. Any answers?

Thank you all for your answers. I have not been to the doctor yet because I just got back from a 3 week vacation. I have made my Dr. appt. for Monday but I just wanted to get some thoughts before I went in. I'm nervous about this.

It is not normal to be bleeding for a solid month. You need to see your doctor!

What you are describing is called breakthrough bleeding. Breakthrough bleeding is any bleeding that occurs at other times during the month and not the period.

When breakthrough bleeding occurs it can act a lot like a menstrual period if it's heavy enough. There can be a number of causes for it ranging from an infection to withdrawal from the pill (if one is on the pill of course).

That's good that you are going to see the dr to try and figure out what could be the cause of all this.

Is there some reason that you haven't already seen your doctor? No, this is not normal.

Further, a PAP smear detects only cancerous and pre-cancerous changes to the cervix. It is not a be-all and end-all test and it can't detect changes in any other portion of your reproductive tract except your cervix.

The only person who can tell you what's wrong is a doctor. See one. And ask to start a fertility workup for both you and your partner.

You should see a doctor if your period goes on for a month, really. Normal healthy period happens once a month, for 3-4 days.
Get a doctor involved, the sooner the better.

Well...I really suggest that you show urself to the doctor immediately. Something is just not functioning properly inside ur body. U need to get it checked. If you are trying to get pregnant, you have got to deal with it soon.
Good luck!

That is not normal. Better see a gynecologist and get yourself examined throughly. There are so many causes for it.
