The ground state Electronic Configuration of copper (Cu) is [Ar].3d10.4s1. This is equivalent to "Choice E".

(The configuration associated with copper in copper compounds is not necessarily the same.)

copper can have an oxidation number of 1+ or 2+ by moving an e- from the "d" orbital to the outer "s" orbital. That means that copper is one of the elements that is considered an exception to the normal electron configuration rules.
