Yes. The complaint from the alleged victim is enough for an arrest, and usually enough for formal charges to be filed.
Going to trial usually requires more evidence beyond just that one witness, but now we're getting into trial tactics.
He should start trying to find an attorney now, in case this escalates into an arrest and/or formal charges.

Yes, if the police feel she is credible..they can charge your friend. But, it is up the the prosecutor to prove he did it to a jury....Most rape cases don't have any physical evidence..alot of rapists wear condoms..hope that helps

Definitely, they will do an investigation, then the burden of proof will land on your friends to prove otherwise. They use DNA for positive proof in today's Court arenas.

He needs a lawyer, guilty or not guilty, usually without evidence it will boil down to he said, she said and the one with the most convincing story wins. .

And how do you know if they have evidence or not? You don't know.
If he's been accused, I'd suggest that he at least speak with an attorney.
