On Thursday afternoon, I got a 3rd degree sprained ankle (all the ligaments are torn). I am not that good on crutches and I did not go to school on Friday and I have been relaxing all weekend. I have Spring break Friday, the weekend, and Monday of this-next week. Do you think I should just stay home the whole week to rest my ankle so I do not further injure it and it heals faster? It's so hard to stay home because we have 4 classes a day and it's like having 2 classes smashed into one class period, so I would miss a lot, 8 classes periods in one subject in 4 days. What do you think I should do? I have to walk long distances between each class, 1/8-1/4 a mile 6 times throughout the day! But, I can catch up, I have the highest grade in every class, and I can makeup the tests.

Melissa I starred this because really this is a important Q! I did that 2 both ankles went down a flight of concrete steps! Oh I just had to keep going! What a dumb thing I did...now have permanent injury and alot of pain alot of times. I say please rest!!! And maybe you could have the school work brought home for you, from a friend. If not being in the top of your class you will have no problem.
Hope I hepled...wish someone had made me stay put!
Ciao

You should probably stay off the foot as much as possible for a few days and keep it elevated to help the swelling. You will probably be able to go back to school after spring break if you have a good walking brace or cast. Be sure to use you crutches properly to avoid any undue stress and weight on the ankle.

I would definately take the week off. That is a long distance to be walking between each class. If you rest, then the injury can heal properly. If you push it too soon, it will take so much longer to heal. I hope it feels better soon. Take care.

I think it is good that you are seeking others opinions, but your Doctor(s) probably can give you the best advise. Also, if you stay off your ankle I am sure your teachers/educators can work with you so that you do not get behind in your studies.

Hell yea you should stay home...I havent been to my early class in two weeks..I'm still passing. Give yourself a little vacation. Plus I'm sure personal health is more important than some classes

I wouldn't, but that's me. Maybe you can have a friend bring you the home work assignments so you don't fall too far behind. What ever you decided make sure to communicate with your professors. Good luck.

Well, it seems that your logical side has attacked this from all angles, and still came up stumped...
In cases like this, I try to tell my brain to be quiet for a moment, and let me hear what my gut has to say on the matter!!!
Whatever you decide, will be the right thing for you.
Heal well!
