The answer may seem simple but if you change your perspective, which is your choice, then you will never be downtrodden again.
You have unconsciously programmed your mind, as we all do to believe that everyone is against us. When they are simply not. If you can change your attitude then you will prosper. Your actions become your thoughts. You are what you think you are. If you always think that you are downtrodden and you can carry on smiling then you will always feel and be downtrodden.
Keep smiling and keep telling yourself daily that you are not downtrodden. Try and be more assertive and strive to have more fun.
:)

In my experience, smiling through the pain of abuse simply invites more of the same from most people. Why, I don't know. Perhaps there is an evolutionary explanation (survival of the "fittest," etc.)
In my opinion you are stronger than your persecutors, but enough is enough. Keep trading acquaintances until you find some that will treat you right... they're out there.
Do you feel you deserve to be punished, or that you are pre-paying into an account for withdrawal later? It's just a head game that will become harder and harder to quit.
If you continue to allow bad treatment you could develop a mental disorder, ie: masochism, enjoying, even requiring the abuse, which may be what some think already. Don't go there, please. We know you're strong. You don't need to prove it anymore.

Because you're an optimistic, beautiful natured lady..
I know this, as I'm married to your twin sister.
My wife always manages to see something positive in anyone and anything, even when everyone else would disagree. She has a smile for everyone. Folks call her 'Shelley Sunshine'.
Stay just as you are hun. The world needs more like you.
And remember, you're gonna reap what you sow, so get ready to collect, 'cos there's a whole lot of loving coming your way... xx
P.S.
Please don't think I'm a religious person, (Atheist) but I felt I must reply to you, after reading your question.. :)

because you are strong from outside. i said this because it is wonderful that you can still smile after being downtrodden by so many people....but then you still complain. somewhere inside you forgive them. that's again good in sense of humanity but try to respect your self and don't let anyone crush your self-respect. you have to leave this world alone remember??....try to gain respect by making them realise what they did to u....so that atlleast ppl younger to you can learn something from you....otherwise you will end up getting disrespected from kids.
best of luck!

Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain, usually an insufficiency of seratonin. It is triggered by stress in those people who are prone to get it. In other words, it is a disease, and you are fortunate not to have it.

Please, keep smiling. When you let them see you suffer, that is when all is lost. While strength is not everything, there are times in life when we must act and decide whether this (the life we are living) is what we want (the life we desire). I have lived my life smiling the whole way through, even past some incredibly tough times. The most important words I can give you are part of the eternal Latin proverb: "Carpe Diem".
Please do not mistake me. Do not cover your emotions with a smile. Do not bottle things inside. But most of all, do not let your emotions decide who you are. Let your mind decide that. When the heart takes over, it is easiest for it to be broken and destroyed (something I could never bare to witness in a human being).
And this may not be helpful, but I can offer nothing to you. Only you can find what it is that keeps you going. Feed from yourself. Let "you" take over. Let your belief take over.
