I am an environmental major and plan to take time off before I go to Grad school for my masters. I'm not sure which school I'm going to attend yet. I want to know if 1190 (680 math and 510 verbal) is good enough to get into a school when I decide to go back to school or should I retake the test again before it changes in September? I also wonder if 1190 is a good enough score so I can get decent financial aid when I get accepted to grad school?

I can't answer your question about whether or not your score was good enough. It wasn't bad. Mine was average, and I was accepted into a competitive Mathematics department at the University of Utah.

They look more at your GPA I think, as well as reference letters from your professors.

Regarding financial aid, it doesn't really exist for masters programs. You can apply for scholarships and such, but usually students take out loans for masters programs. However, a better option exists. Apply to be a TA, meaning you not only get free grad school, but you also get a small stipend. Depending on the program, the stipends range from $5000 yearly to $17,000+ yearly. I was getting around $14,000, and all I had to do was teach one class per semester and spend some time in the tutoring center.

Your GRE score does not have a thing to do with financial aid. If you get into grad school, you are qualified for some finacial aid - trust me the finaicil fols will find a way to get you to owe them, if that is what you want. Your GRE score will be used in a formula to determine how you compare with other students applying to the same school same program. As someone else said, they will also look at other factors. Without knowing all the facts, no one can say if that is a good enough score.

It depends on the school and on your other qualifications. Those GRE scores will probably not get you into the very top schools -- but are good enough for many schools.

You may consider taking a preparation class and taking them again -- especially if you have a high undergraduate GPA.
