assuming you use windows xp or compatible operating sys...
1. connect the s video from your computer to your tv.
2. switch the tv channel on which u will receive the image....usually video 1, video 2...etc.
3. right click on desktop and select properties.
4. select 'settings' tab
5. click on 'advanced'
6. click on 'S 3Display' tab
7. select your monitor....u can also select dual on top which will allow you to select two options.
8. select apply...a small box will pop up....select ok or yes. and you are all set.
9. whenever you shut down your computer it will all go back to your default settings.
hope this helps.

If that S-Video cable is connected to the TV-Tuner card, it seems to me you've got things backwards because a TV-Tuner is a device that lets you watch TV on a computer. (The S-Video on it is probably input, and would be something you would hook up to a camcorder/VCR/DVD player or maybe a TV with S-Video out.)

Using a regular TV as an additional screen is usually done by using a video card (the card you connect your monitor to) that has S-Video out and connecting it to a TV. Note that even if your TV has a bigger screen then the regular monitor (say 21" CRT TV compared to 15" LCD) the picture quality may be a lot worse for a regular TV. A regular TV basically uses 640x480 resolution in the US. (Not so good for stuff like web browsing, but watching videos or something isn't bad.)

If you have a video card that has S-Video out, then once you connect the TV to it you should be able to enable TV output through the video card's software. (See if there's an icon in your system tray for your video card and try left/right clicking on it and see if you can find anything about enabling TV-out.)

Don't know how much of this would apply to HD TVs 'cause I don't have one. I have however watched many hours worth of videos on my TV using my computer.

Incidently, if a TV is connected to a computer's video card (using S-video or, in my case, Composite video) and is on when the computer boots up you should see the boot stuff on the TV too.

the priority which you are going to run into is that the call on a television isn't virtually as sturdy as that on a working laptop or laptop visual reveal unit. you will get a maximum of a few hundred strains vertical decision and a few hundred pixels of horizontal decision. you will no longer be able to variety the test fee the two. the biggest distinction between television instruments and laptop video reveal instruments is that a television sign is analog, no longer digital. It exchange into by no capacity meant to offer the call that a favourite laptop demands. Televisions used for use for laptop video reveal instruments, yet that exchange into in the day of the early Apple, Commodore and Atari structures. At ideal, a television, (no rely how great the reveal), would desire to handle perhaps 40 characters of text cloth for the time of, via something like 20 or 30 vertical. once you attempt to cram extra desirable than that on a reveal, the call exchange into purely so undesirable which you may desire to no longer see the characters. even although you have a 27 inch television, the call is not extra ideal than a smaller one. extra desirable video reveal instruments, if the call is comparable to a small one, run into an identical difficulty. maximum fairly great video reveal instruments have extra desirable decision, making them in a position to reveal lots extra guidance. This demands, additionally, a video card it somewhat is able to handling that great decision. It takes a speedier video processor and extra video RAM to be able to do it. in the top, the 27 inch television is okay as a television, yet could be thoroughly valueless as a visual reveal unit. some new flat reveal television's incorporate a working laptop or laptop enter, and that they could paintings lots extra ideal. you ought to use them for the two television and visual reveal unit.
