I learnt that ethers are basic according to the electronic concept? How is that? Please explain in simple terms.

It is due to the structure of an ether being similar to an alcohol/water, but there is no ability to protonate, as ethers have two R groups (where R =/= H). R groups cannot protonate, st there is no acid nature in ethers.

As ethers have a similar structure to water, they are able to accept protons. (Thus acting as a Lewis base by forming a new covalent bond)

Since there is a oxygen with four electrons unbonded, it can provide a site for attack by hydrogen ion.
