I'm really considering majoring in Philosophy of Language but I'm not really sure what kind of a career I could make out of it. To be a little more general, I'm shooting for a major in Philosophy in college but I'm not sure if this would be very practical. Can anyone provide insight into what I'd be getting myself into?

I have an undergraduate degree in mathematics, have done graduate work in mathematics and in philosophy. I also have an MBA and a PhD in Finance.

I've found that my work in Philosophy has been the most useful.

The question isn't "What kind of job can you get with a degree in Philosophy?" -- The question is "What kind of job can't you get with a degree in Philosophy?"

What employer wouldn't want someone who is trained to think critically, write well and express himself clearly?

Granted -- it might be a good idea to take some of your electives in economics, business, mathematics or computer science -- but Philosophy is a great major.
