parents dont think that i should get a phone because it is a waste and i wont use it other than going to out of school places. any good ideas that would help me persuade them into getting me one?

when you are away from your parent they should want to still be in contact with you and with a cellphone they can have that option. a cellphone can be your lifeline

It's appears that you are not trusted by your parents. Perhaps you should show them through actions that you are a responsible person. Trying to trick someone "especially your parents" into thinking that you are trust worthy is not the best thing, sooner or later you get caught up in a lie, then they will never trust you. Try being honest and prove that you can be trusted, then they will be more than willing to get you a phone.

Tell them it is for safety/emergency situations as well as for socializing, but mainly for YOUR safety.
