Real value, no not much. If you asking if you sell your home will you recoup the money in the resell, no, probably not. But what it can do is help sell the house faster. An appraisal will not go up substantially over the same house without crown. But it can make the house sell faster. If I walk into the two houses, same plan, same original builder, most people aren't going to spend more money just because it has crown, but it makes you more likely to sell, because you have an extra.
Most projects like that, homeowners don't get the money back. You get money back, usually it isn't even 100%, on projects like new kitchen, bath, and amenities like fireplaces and whirlpool tubs. Most people don't even 100% back on additions, ie adding sq.ft. The only project that were people get 100% or more back is going from traditional siding to Hardiplank or similar product.

But you know what? It's your house, if you want crown, go for it. If you don't get the money back, you still enjoyed it while you lived there. And I'll reiterate, in a soft market, you want to help make the sell easier. You are competing with other sellers. So if crown helps, go for it. What's a few hundred vs sitting on your house for the extra time.
But if you are looking to add real value, then search around the above link, for other ideals.

Crown molding gives a house a "finished" look. Nicer homes have crown molding installed.
Go to some "open house" tours in an upscale neighborhood and this should answer your question.

It certainly can't hurt. It can add appeal, and make a room look more formal. I can't say it will add any value but it can't hurt either.
