Do you agree that the generals on the field are best fit to make the critical decisions?

absolutely without doubt! Bush or any President shouldn't be allowed to be commander in chief. Leave it up to the Generals and not just one General.....a panel of Generals... who's decisions should be finalized by the vote of the people! Amen.

the problem is liberals will never let it go...too much of the feel good, kumbayah, id like to buy the world a coke type philosophy. if they wouldve let the army fight in nam instead of washington, wed never have lost it. look at cut and run. its a disgusting display of cowardice, but another example of how liberals wont leave well enough alone. the generals should make the decisions, however hillary has already made her intent public to change the constitutional structure of the commander in cheif by putting congressional limitations in place that should never be there and you know the pelosi/reid regieme cant be far behind.

Congress authorizes, which means they can unauthorize at any time. Bush can veto - but no more $$$. Generals run it on money and with the direction of the Pres. In short - the congress and the executive must agree. Generals follow the agreement.

the government should give the military the mission and goals. But the generals should be left alone to get that job done. This war would probably be over alot sooner if the military could just do it's job.

first question: we elect them to power. Since they are elected by us, they have legitimate power to do such.
second question: Yes, but at the same time, it can not always be entirely them. There are sometimes political aspects in a certain military decision that needs to be weighed also

yes,, but Bush will fire them if they don't agree with his doctrine,,,the only critical decisions that Bush will listen to are those that fit his way of thinking,,, right or wrong,,, Bush only wants the people to succumb,, yer either with us or your against us and you will die,,,,
