veteran of the civil war died in 1959. Any thoughts? That war was from 1861 until 1865.

Both armies took drummer boys as young as 10 or 12 who were officially "soldiers" and drew pensions.

Also lots of boys as young as 14 or 15 lied about their age to get in, especially in the south.

wow he was blessed my father is a world war 2 veteran in his 80s they are strong people

The US Civil War was a very brutal war. It pitted brother against brother (sometimes literally). Technology was way ahead of tactics, and medical care was just awful.
