If it's an automatic and you do, disconnect the U-joint - otherwise eveything still moves but without lubrication. I guess it comes down to:

1. Is the car worth as much as the tow-bar/rentall costs
2. Is there an emotional attachment that overides number1

Now, if you mean to tow a trailer with the Couger, you might find that the only way to attach one is by having it custom welded. It won't come off unless you cut it off. I'm guessing this is what you really meant due to the "lol" (lol).

That's the way I moved from the Chicago area to Florida some years ago. I put a tow hitch on a vehicle that was 12 years old and pulled a U-haul trailer.

Within 100 miles, my vehicle began to overheat. I pulled over, checked for leaks (there were none) and let it cool down a bit; but I continued on with my trip without doing any repairs. I made it all the way Florida without further incident.

i think the question you should ask can the BMW because of the fact it is heavier tow the Montero? You gotta to function interior the burden of the motor vehicle and trailer. is likewise you have people or stuff interior the BMW this reduces the burden it could tow! additionally purely because of the fact something is rated to tow something does no longer advise that is going to tow it properly. factors like hills, mountains, the wind, trailer sway, and so on. Ask the broking or seem on the vendors handbook. additionally isn't the X5 have a kinda brief wheelbase? no longer what you seem for in a physically powerful towing platform.

I really don't think so. Even though you may be able to get a hitch installed on the car, doesn't mean you should or use it. I have always believed that towing should be left to trucks.

you can but ask yourself am i moving things that i could just buy out there for the expense of towing a heavy trailer plus the hitch and worry of breaking down. why not have a big moving sale, and just keep the most honored things you own that will fit in your trunk or backseat.

I wonder how many people will tell you yes, but forget to mention to take the drive shaft off by disconnecting the universal joint and taping the tranny end with plastic so no dirt or oil gets in or out. Hmmm, inquiring minds want to know.
