Absolutely! It's amazing the people we can meet then never give a second thought about, until we run across them years later, during some crisis, and realize just how complex and amazing they are. We never know how or why others live the way they do, until we walk in their shoes, or ,at least, embrace other lifestyles with open arms and minds. I'm proud to say, that in my elder years, I have quite an "eclectic" array of great friendships. I count my blessings for them all.

Absolutely. When you both share a need, it is amazing how you open up to talk about it. In doing so, discovering that there is more to this person than you actually ever knew existed can be so amazing. How unfortunate that it took such a hardship to actually discover it.... but I fully believe there are reasons for every action in this world.
I lost someone very dear to me once. But her death brought people out of the woodwork. People I had never stopped to get to know. Now? Now I will never let go of these people!!
*excellent question*

I am taking over my b/f's log in to answer this. It's happened a few times but the one that sticks out is this beautiful person that I was lucky enough to cross paths with and become very close with....he tragically died in a naval accident about five years after we met.
