If you have the RESTORE disk or Windows Disk, then reinstall. Then, you are all set.
HEY, is this a STOLEN computer? You might check the serial number. The manufacturer's website might have a directory of STOLEN computers. If you find out, consider calling the police. Be a part of the solution.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

Just restart the computer. In between the appearance of the BIOS POST screen and the Windows XP boot screen, alternate pressing Ctrl and F8.
The Windows boot menu should appear. Select any “safe mode.”
On the login screen, you should see “Administrator.” If you don’t, press Ctrl + Alt + Del twice and manually enter the “Administrator” in without at password.
Once successfully logged in, go to the “Control Panel” and make necessary modifications to the user profiles.

You can try to get the settings and password from the person you bought computer from. other wise you cannot change.
You can install new hard drive and then run the recovery CD for your operating system, or if you have or order recovery CD from manufacturer you can reinstall OS and start fresh.
A new hard drive and installing OS is best way,You start off as if computer is new and not have to worry with installing and deleting unneeded programs.
Hope this helps.

you cant. but there are several utilities that will reset the password of the administrator account to 12345, just do a google search. Be wary though, make sure you don't get a virus looking for one, since it teeters on the edge of being warez.

You cannot erase an administrator account... Your only option is to format and reinstall your hard drive... or login as that administrator and modify it how you want it to be.

That is strange that you bought this laptop without checking with the previous owner to fix the problem.
Just give this person a call . Tell him "Hey, i cant use your effing laptop and I want my money back"
Heres your laptop, Ill get myself a new one without problems.

You can't. That's why you aren't an administrator.
