I drove for 3 hours in a down-pour on the highway and now my backseat floorboard is soaking wet (only on the back passenger side) What would have caused this? And what do I do to get it dried out so no mold will grow?

Would help to know make of car.Check the door seal on the passenger door bottom edge....also rear shock tower ,...also rear fenderwell if it protrudes behind back seat. for rust. from the inside.
How to dry it. Lift out rubber mats . Rip off door moulding so you can lift carpet up to get under. Use a pistol hair dryer and let er run all night blowing in warm air under and over that carpet. Auto carpet is pretty resistant to mold and mildew.(leave windows open while car is being dried.)

The best thing to do would be to vacuum the back seat, then take a hair dryer to it. Sounds like your door either has a leak, the window, or there may be a whole under the car. Give your car a once over. Taking it through the car wash may show you the problem, and where it is getting into. The best is to get rid of that water. Tomorrow's Sunday the best day to take the car to the car wash and vacuum that up. Mold can grow pretty fast.

Rear window rubber seal around your glass is leaking because either it has split or area under the rubber seal that is part of the body (pinch weld) of the car has rusted through creating a leak. If you have a sunroof, the leak may be coming through there because your drainage tubes for the sunroof area have gotten plugged under the chassis.

You need to take it to a auto body shop. The best thing for the floor is just soak as much as you can with towels and open all the windows during warm days.

I used to have a car that had that same problem. It was caused by the rain getting in by a worn rubber seal at the top of the door and running down to soak the back carpet.

I avoided mold and mildew by pressing towels onto the back carpet after the rainstorms. I was delighted to trade in that car!

was your window down a little? If not, then check your weatherstipping around the door and door jams for cracks or tears. Dry the spot ASAP so your floorboards wont rust, then spray Lysol on it to kill any mildew or mold growing and let it sit for a 15 minutes. Then finally steam clean it.

i own a shop, and you need a really good wet dry vacuum cleaner and pull all of the water out of it that you can ,this will help it dry out some, and get all the air to it that you can also, this will help keep down the mold problem,id be searching for where it came from, make sure all the doors was closed real tight on it and the widows was up,and also if it has a back hatch make sure it was closed real tight,i left mine open on my Nissan and it filled the spot up where the spare tires goes, and i thought it was down real good, but check it out real good you,ll find where it came from, good luck i hope this helps.

window could be leaking, you might even have a hole in floor board, but i'd say window leaking. if you're car won't get stolen , part it on sunny days with the windows open. Use towels to soak up as much or it as you can. Hopefully it won't go mildew on you and stink

you must have a seal leaking or a hole in the floor board. have some one get in the car take you water hose and spray your car down cheek the trunk to there's a good chance that's where its coming from.you should fix the leak before you dry the floor. if you can leave your window down just hair it should dire or if you can go to a car wash you can vacuum it up
