Get up out of bed, and either go outside or sit up until you're very cool, bordering on being cold. Hop back into bed, snuggle down, and blissful sleep is pretty much assured!

Learning to quiet the mind and body by using various methods. For the body: medicine like over-the-counter Unisom or perscription medicine like Klonapin, warm milk, hot tea that is made for helping one sleep such as one called "Sleepy Time" (seriously), or an herb called valarien root, just to name a few. Then for the mind: If you have a very vivid imagination you can practice focusing your mind on boring things you have had to watch or do in the past....perhaps your imagination is too vivid or wanders too much then you can try meditation techniques to calm yourself and one is that you start by lying still and imagining your the tips of your toes and imagine them becoming light enough to float, imagine them tingle, then work your way up your body every inch of the way and with success you will be asleep before you reach the top of your head. I have used all of these methods at different times and had success. My step-daughter actually counts sheep. For some, reading what one might normally consider boring reading material works. Best wishes and happy dreams.

If you exercise, try doing your workouts earlier in the day. Also don't do anything too stimualtiing before bed like watching action tv shows (including the news) or read anything that could get you worked up. Stick light shows and music. If you're over 21 it wouldn't hurt to have a glass of wine now and then either.

I know a bunch that WILL work, but I rarely use them because I like staying up =)

Warm milk, soft music, reading in bed, counting backwards from 10, taking Melatonin, having sex (your body actually does relax after an orgasm), watching something boring on television.

Lying perfectly still and letting my thoughts wander, sometimes I'll even urge them to become nonsensical. When my thoughts start to become disjointed and make less and less sense, it means the logical part of my brain is falling asleep, and soon I'll drift off.

Usually, I will drink a glass or two of milk, and then go watch something like HGTV or food network or some kind of like, documentary channel....it makes me fall asleep. Good Luck!
